Colima
Colima borders the Pacific Ocean, Jalisco and Michoacan. The state is not part of the Denomination of Origin for mezcal or any other agave spirits, but the region was an early center for mezcal production and played an important role in the evolution of distillation in Mexico. Although Colima is no longer a mezcal producing region, the state is home to a popular tuxca festival, which celebrates mezcal primarily produced in nearby Jalisco. (You can learn what “tuxca” is here.) Scroll down to learn more about liquors that are produced or sold in Colima.
