Nose
This smelled delicious as I poured it into my glass and my first full whiff has me salivating! Super lush with vegetal and tropical fruit tones, a touch of spice, baked agave (the two together would be like gingerbread) and a hint of smoke. I’m definitely diggin’ this!
Taste
While the flavors are not as complex as the nose, I am getting some dry earth, tobacco, roasted agave, some spearmint and just a tad of ripe tropical fruit. Big and bold in flavor and intensity with a medium viscosity and a nice long finish – like I said I am diggin’ this mezcal!
Method/Background Ancestral
When Los Siete Misterios launched, they focused on ancestral mezcales from Sola de produced with agave cooked in earthen pits, mashed by hand, fermented in wood tanks and distilled in clay pots, and the Tobala is a classic expression from this region which is equally known from their claypot distillation methods.
