Nose
While I am mostly getting tropical fruit tones, this is probably the most softest nose of the entire lineup from Los Siete Misterieos. However, I dig it – a lot!
Taste
Bam! While it is not apparent on the nose, the flavor profile of this just screams arroqueño! Tropical yet vegetal with a nice amount of baking spices and earth tones that lead into a long finish. It is not overly complicated but it has enough going on to keep your palate entertained. By far, my most favorite expression from Los Siete Misterios!
Background Notes
When Los Siete Misterios launched, they focused on ancestral mezcales from Sola de Vega, OAX produced with agave cooked in earthen pits, mashed by hand, fermented in wood tanks and distilled in clay pots. Maguey Arroqueño needs anywhere from 12-20+ years before reaching maturity and this is a standout expression.
