Background Notes
San Baltazar Guelavila is a small area that is well known for its high quality agaves, biodiverse nurseries, and mezcaleros. Don Goyo, who sadly recently passed away, was one of the most respected producers of the region, carrying on the tradition of sustainable agave cultivation that has been practiced for at least 100 years in the area. Throughout 2024, Casa Cortes will be distributing the final batches from this great mezcalero.
