The below map indicates what states are included in the various Denominations of Origin (DO’s) for Mezcal, Tequila, Bacanora, Raicilla, and Sotol in Mexico.
Currently the DO for Mezcal includes zones in 10 states, the DO for Tequila in five, the DO for Sotol in three, the DO for Raicilla in two, and the DO for Bacanora in one. Some states, such as Guanajuato, Michoacan, and Jalisco, have mezcal regions or municipalities that fall across different DOs.
