Tasting experience
The nose is incredibly full bodied and redolent of agave roast. It’s the perfect set up for the body which is incredibly meaty. This is a really thick cut of espadin that registers as pure Oaxacan tradition.
This bottle is something to savor with a Oaxacan meal full of bright acids and spices. Sipping it on its own won’t do any harm, this is a perfect session mezcal.
Background
This is the second in Mal Bien’s certified mezcals (the white labels are certified, the labels that look like hand lettered green tape are uncertified) and it may be mistaken for the Mal Bien Juan Hernandez Mendez so make sure to check the bottle or contact digital retailers to make sure that you get the bottle you’re looking for. These two labels make for a fantastic introduction to mezcal, they’re inexpensive and won’t blow you away.
