Pierde Almas Tequilina Weber mezcal is made by maestro mezcalero Alfonso Sanchez with agave from San Baltazar Chichicapam and San Juan del Rio, Oaxaca. The use of Blue agave in mezcal is not common, but can easily be grown in Oaxaca and other mezcal-producing states as it’s a close relative to agave Espadin. Some agave farmers in Oaxaca planted the blue agave Tequilana after the agave shortage in the 90’s and early 2000’s in Jalisco.
