In today’s installment of the Coronavirus Innovation Project we’re featuring Guelaguetza. It is one of, if not the, restaurant that put Oaxacan cuisine on the map in the United States with a super asist by the dear departed Jonathan Gold, it’s also one of the first places to really put mezcal front and center for the US audience. The second generation of Bricia, Fernando, Paulina, and Elizabeth who now operate the restaurant, opened a full blown mezcaleria there years ago and have supported mezcal events every year since.
Now that their business has been devastated by the Coronavirus crisis La Guelaguetza is offering family meals for pick up and delivery Thursday through Sunday but they’re also upping their cocktail game with one liter bottles of cocktails featuring Mezcal Bruxo in either a Garra de Tigre or a Pasion de Oaxaca cocktail.
