Del Maguey
Del Maguey arguably built the market for mezcal in the United States. Ron Cooper founded the brand way back in 1995, working with producers from different pueblos that showcased their production style and flavors. This concept introduced the idea of “single village mezcals” and has been copied by brands since.
A question we get a lot is “What’s the best Del Maguey mezcal?” Of course we can’t answer that question–best is entirely subjective. But you can check out our tasting notes. Their single village expressions line has grown over the years and now includes more than eight villages.
The brand is renowned not only for creating the market for traditional mezcal in the US, but also for its colorful labels with artwork designed by Ken Price, and of course its green bottles. Del Maguey is now part of the Pernod Ricard Portfolio.
