Nose

This comes at you with a huge fruit bouquet. There are fruits like fresh cut mango and macerated cherry.

Taste

The aroma only hints as the flavor because the Agreste is a robust spirit that reminds me more of an eau de vie than an agave spirit. It opens with a huge burst of Bronx grapes and then settles into a more mellow set of fruit flavors with some plums and prunes.

Method / Background Notes

The AQARÁ Agreste is harvested with about an inch more penca which they use to increase the hydrolysis and flavor. The extra 5% ABV really adds heat and flavor in comparison with the plateado and makes it much more exciting to drink this neat like an eau de vie. For more about AQARÁ read my profile.
